How to Have a Beach Ready Body? Have a Body, Go to the Beach!

How to Have a Beach Ready Body with Lipedema
I’ll probably post a lot about swimming, so bear with me.  I like to swim.  I like to float, play on boogie boards, and do water slides. I really really love to snorkel and I think that aqua classes at the Y are the best for so many reasons.  Also, we’re having an exercise pool put in this year and I’m planning to use it every day for a way to get compression but not have to be wearing compression (WIN!)  Yes, even with my legs as they are – it’s never stopped me. But frankly, I’m self conscious about my legs, probably like a lot of you.
This worry about my legs steals my joy.  So, a few years back, I said forget everyone else, I’m going to swim and I’m going to find a way to keep my swimming joy!  I bought a few items, including an aquatard with shorts that go mid-thigh, some swim shorts, and even some swim capris.  At first I was buying men’s board shorts because I didn’t even know these goodies were around.  But c’mon men’s board shorts have zero stretch and they’re miserable for me because they bunch all up between my thighs.  Ain’t nobody got time for that!
Once I started donning these swim items, three things happened.  One, my confidence shot up and I got my swimming joy back.  Two, I started noticing that there are a whole lot more people who need things like this but probably don’t know they’re around.  Finally, women started approaching ME about where I got the items.  And boy if I had $5 for every time I shared…
So it’s January.  I’m already thinking about summer and swimming season and some nice, blue, warm waters. I cannot wait to snorkel again soon!
I’m going to share a few things with you that I love for swimming confidence over a few posts.  Yes, I will even share some pics of myself in the suits with you.
I have these in black, but now they have COLORS including a beautiful peacock color that I’m dying to get my hands on – I hope they don’t sell out of the blues. Goes up to a size 26.
In this picture, my mom is wearing these swim shorts in a size 2x.  I’m wearing a basic short from Torrid in a 3.
May you gain confidence and enjoy swimming as much as I do – get out there and don’t wait for skinnier legs to do it!
