Last Sunday Lipedema-Friendly Outfits – January 2022

Lipedema friendly outfits

Greetings and Salutations and BRRRR!  This is our first segment in a series where we find fabulous outfits for a price regular people can pay, off of Amazon, that are lipedema friendly and incorporate compression into the look OR that are great at focusing the attention up instead of down at our legs.

I’m planning that all of the outfits I put together will be appropriate for who I am (or want to be).  I want them to be classy outfits that are appropriate for work in a business setting.  I personally really am having to completely redo my wardrobe for when I go back into the office so this is for me, and you might as well benefit too!

For January, I figured it’s cold somewhere so let’s start with a wintery look.  I’ve copied this off of an outfit I saw the mother wear on HGTV’s Unsellable Houses.  So help me, I cannot find a picture of her wearing this. You’ll have to trust me.

I want to start with the foundation of this outfit.  In the lipedema forums, a question often comes up about what pants seem to be working for us.  I see that Woman Within wide leg pants are regularly presented as some of the best for our legs, both in how they feel and look.  I’ve never tried them before, so I ordered these in my normal size 24.  I am close to six feet tall and decided to try the tall version of the pants for this first round.  Next time, I’ll try the average height ones as I think they’ll be a better fit.  But the legs on these are certainly wide with plenty of room for someone with lipedema. These pants are denim, so I want to try another trouser material soon, too.

The next piece the TV lady was wearing was a cool pancho looking thing with a black turtleneck and she looked so nice.  So I picked this pancho (not a plus size, but a one size fits most – I’m a 3x/24 and this fit fine) to try out.  I ordered a plus size belt, too, but I enjoyed the pancho both with and without the belt.

And then I thought that a black turtleneck would look so nice under the pancho thing.  I just picked a random one at a good prize, in my size on Amazon, but really, any would do.

Next is the boots I bought in November and mentioned in a recent post.  I really do love these boots.  They are elastic on both sides and have a little pull strap on the back.  They just slip right on, have pretty good arch support, and there’s no significant heel.  I’ve learnd they look so cute with jeans or dresses and they are becoming a staple in my wardrobe.  It’s a plus that they come in a 13WW.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention compression.  I will wear this outfit with summer weight czalus because my go-to bioflects are too hot to wear under regular pants.   The struggle is real.  Anyway, here’s a link to what I’m trying today.  If these don’t work out or are too bunchy, I’m going to try something else like a pant liner that I bought from Dress Barn a few years back – they’re really thin, but do provide some compression.

As far as accessories, besides the belt, go, I’m a sucker for a colored purse.  I think this would look nice with a big oversized black, leather tote bag, but I right now am carrying a Coach Mollie Tote in pebble leather (thank you clearance rack at the outlet shop nearby!) I think oversized bags, and even oversize accessories help direct the eye up.  While I didn’t get it, I think this look would be more finished with a cool, long necklace.

WHEW! That was fun.  I wonder what folks in my hometown thought of that craziness in the old part of downtown.  PS:  My mom ended up getting the pancho because she liked it so much!
