Lipedema Compression Hack!

Compression Hack

Hi friends!

What’s that boiling on the stove, you say?  Just my britches.

Today I’ve done a fun experiment that I’d like to share with you.  Why?  I have several pairs of nude compression pants and socks that are that color of beige that matches no one.  I got them after surgery and they’re great compression, but I’m not wearing them.  Also, I have some navy dresses and tunics that I want to wear that don’t necessarily match the black compression that I love so much.

Here’s what I started with.

A well-loved pair of Absolute Compression in 5x, and one bottle of Rit DyeMore for Synthetics in blue.  (One thing about these compression is that they COMPRESS, they really do hold it all in, and for me, I need a couple of sizes bigger than my normal size, but they make your legs look so much more under control, and for that, I love them.  They are hard to get on like most compression.)

OK so the instructions are on the bottle.

Basically I boiled water with a tsp of dish soap in a stainless steel pot, added half a bottle of the dye and then nearly-boiled the britches for 30 minutes.

Afterwards, I rinsed in warm, then cold water until the pants came clean, then washed them in the machine on the delicates cycle in warm water with an old towel, then dried them.  AND IT WORKED!

Now I have a fun little pair of compression to wear with blue things and I do love them.  Seeing all the colors of this synthetic dye on Amazon, I know I’m going for some reds next, and then maybe a purple!  So easy and fun!

And to the makers of bigger-sized off the shelf compression, we need colors here.  And if you don’t offer it, we’ll make our own!
