Lipedema Friendly Outfits – Yes! You Can Wear Compression on Formal Night!

Hi friends!

As I continue my series of Fall 2023 outfits for you, I wanted to share a relatively inexpensive, pleated chiffon dress $45 from Amazon that I really adore.  Most importantly, it’s comfortable, and colorful.  I know I’m going to get complements when I go out in a hot pink thing that you can’t help but look at.  I’m also totally able to wear my black Bioflect compression underneath this dress and not worry that it looks weird with the way it shows, etc.  I’m going on a cruise here in a couple of weeks and this is what I’m bringing for formal night.

When you show up to your event wearing color like this, your CONFIDENCE shines through!

This maxi dress comes in a variety of colors, including a gorgeous royal blue, and pure white (think majorly cheap destination dress, ya’ll!).  It also comes in black, but please don’t get black unless it’s like “really’ fancy night.  It’s just SO much fun to show your confidence with a BOOM color like this hot pink.  Note I’m tall (5’9”) so this dress may need a little bit of hemming if you’re not as tall as I am.

OK, so I’ve paired this with basic cheap faux pearl earrings with a crazy pearl back, a homemade 8.5 inch bracelet (I got the beads from Hobby Lobby and made my own because of my larger wrist), my compression capris, and a pair of some well-loved Aravon sandals. Let me tell you about these:  up to size 13WW (my size), very strong and stable sole unit, Velcro adjustability in three places and good depth .  I discovered Aravon a few years ago after AGES of having given up on ever finding sandals.  I LOVE Aravon (made by New Balance) and I wear them very often.  They are a gift to lipedema ladies. I don’t care how fancy it is, I’m probably not going to buy (or find) heels to wear anymore.  I let my hair dry naturally curly and just pulled it back.

For makeup, I attempted (ha) contouring, but am doing a dramatic eye and a nude lip just for fun.  And I’m wearing my dollar tree fake eyelashes again for a little more glam.  Remember, EVERY woman, no matter what her arms look like, has beautiful shoulders, so even if you decide to get a little wrap or pashmina to cover your arms, SHOW your shoulders!

Here are the pieces and parts for this look.

Also, what I used to make my own bracelet for my lipedema wrists.  I used beads to make up 8.5 inches on a double strand and then did five double knots to hold it together.  Simple as pie!

Ok I’ve had fun with this look.  I hope it helps you out with that never-ending question of what to wear on fancy night.  Go out, have fun and be confident in your choice of color!

Until next time, have fun, friends!

Susan

PS:  Look how much you can change this ‘fit by just adding a belt.  You could even throw on a little business jacket and a pair of loafer or ankle boots (Chelsea style is good for lippy legs) for a work look with this versatile piece!
