Hi friends,
I’m sharing a news story that I stumbled across from YouTube, originally published a few years back from Fox News.
The more we have lipedema in the news, the more folks can be exposed, the more possibly get that proper diagnosis early along with treatment to save mobility and prevent progression and all the things that come along with advanced lipedema.
As a side note, according to the Findings from the Lipedema Foundation’s Registry: First Look Report – Key findings from the Lipedema Foundation Registry survey, there are “long delays between onset and treatment: Although Lipedema may appear early in life, the average age of diagnosis is 48 years old, and women sought medical attention 17 years after first noticing symptoms.” That is seventeen years of pain, leg heaviness, joint damage, easy bruising, and fatigue. (I highly recommend that you take a look at this report, it’s fascinating what the Lipedema Foundation learned on this first run.)
So while many of us are clinging to every news report, and sharing reports from more than a year ago, keep on sharing. It makes information on lipedema easier to find for those who are looking and wondering what is wrong with their legs.
Until next time, see if there’s one person you can help to have a better day today. And remember to be kind to all creatures great and small. We’re all doing our best on this old planet.
Susan
