Well hello there!
Sometimes business takes an unexpected turn, and that’s certainly true for me right now!
My shoe manufacturing is currently on hold due to two major curveballs: unpredictable tariff expenses and the unfortunate news that my custom footwear maker has closed its doors. Finding manufacturing partners willing to take on our custom project and literally ‘break the mold,’ is a bit challenging. While I continue to look, within the US I haven’t found a manufacturer that can make anything that meets our needs and would be affordable, so I’ve had to manufacture outside of our borders. It’s never easy when a trusted partner in craftsmanship has to step away, especially when you’ve built something that really reflects your customers’ needs and your own vision for high-quality comfort and design.
But rather than see this as an ending, I’m treating it as a pause and a chance to regroup. While production is paused, I’m turning my energy toward something new and useful—a Products Page featuring items I genuinely use and love for my own body, mobility, and daily comfort. Think of it as my personal toolkit for staying active and feeling good, whether my own branded shoes are on the shelf or not!
I’ve also been ramping up my work with the American Lipedema Association, which continues to inspire and connect me with incredible people who share this mission. I’m still dabbling in podcasting through The LegsLikeMine Podcast—not on a schedule though (life’s been busy, in the best way!). And because I’ve been craving a more tactile, old-school kind of connection, I even started a little snail mail club. It’s a little experiment in slowing down and reaching out in a tangible, heartfelt way instead of just digitally.
The good news is, this isn’t goodbye to custom footwear—it’s just “see you soon.” Once manufacturing costs and tariffs become more predictable, I fully plan to restart production. In the meantime, I’ll keep sharing updates, lessons learned, and practical finds that fit my mission: helping others move comfortably and confidently through life.
Thank you for sticking with me through this transition. Change isn’t always easy, but sometimes it opens the door to even better possibilities. That has ALWAYS been my lived experience.
Here’s to new doors opening, and turning to a new chapter!
Susan
