Hi friends!
Here in Oklahoma, it is blazing hot now, and for the next couple of weeks. Wearing compression is more important to me than normal when it’s hot and humid outside, as that combination triggers my legs to swell. Of course, it’s the time of year when it’s most difficult to wear compression because it holds in heat and can, frankly, make us miserable. I know a lot of ladies like to keep spritzer bottles around if they’ll be outside and spray their compression down to stay cool. Some even put their compression in the freezer and put it on cold (who knows if I could stand that! I haven’t tried it, and also, I wonder if it hinders flexibility of the fabric).
Instead of these other options, a key I’ve discovered to help with this is to uncover everything that doesn’t require compression on it. I wear high arch and supportive flip flops or sandals so my feet can breathe and then I find short sleeve tops that are definitely shorter in length than my favorite maxi dress style. It turns out having less material over my legs in layers can really help get some heat out of there. I pair it with my Bioflects, or Czalus summer weight compression (not my favorite because for me it’s a little too stretchy, but hey, desperate times call for desperate measures!)
I’ve found this very comfortable trapeze style, sleeveless dress that comes in all kinds of patterns and colors on Amazon for $23.99. I like it because it’s got stylish patterns that get compliments but it’s still 65% Rayon and 35% polyester so it’s soft, lightweight, and breathable. I’m wearing it now in our 100 degree temps at 7 pm and am getting ready to go out in it! I got it on the Try it Before you Buy it program because I didn’t know if the 3x would fit (I’m a solid 24W) and when I got it in the mail and held it up, I thought it wouldn’t. But here we are and I like the fit with less extra material, and of course I’m keeping it – (that try it before you buy it program backfires on me every time)!
I wear VStep flip flops for the arch support and actually paid my shoe repair man to make them larger, then I discovered they make an adjustable model! So here you go, above!
Note that the one I’m wearing shows as pink and black on the amazon site, but I find the paisley pattern is really navy.
If you get one of these drop me a line to tell us how you like it!
Until next time, stay cool friends!
Susan
