Hi friends,
When the world doesn’t fit you and then you find out that you’re part of 11% of people not being served, you either sit back and miss out, or you do something about it.
After nearly two years of work, I’ve put in the first order of the LegsLikeMine Lipedema Friendly footwear! The first order will include all-occasion black, Lipedema Awareness Purple, and Poppy Red, (because every girl needs red shoes!).
My team is working to put the purchase page up here on LegsLikeMine.com so we will be ready to get them in your hands as soon as the shoes come in from the manufacturer. I think they will be available will be about six weeks from now. Believe me when I tell you, I’ll let you know as soon as you can pre-order!
In parallel, our talented professional footwear designer has the next style…the CALF BOOTS’ technical specifications ready to go and will soon start the sampling process for the calf boots we’ve all been waiting for! The boots will 1) have a calf that starts at 23 inches, 2) an ankle that is ample to accommodate us, and 3) have the same sturdy, comfortable, and durable footbed that we’ve designed for the loafer, all with ample room for our unique feet. Also the zippers are on the outside of the leg so they don’t rub. I’m really excited about this because there is literally NOTHING out there boot-wise for ladies with lipedema calves and ankles.
As you see, we’re starting with a firm foundation that fits our feet, and adding complexity as we learn. I anticipate we will have the shorter of the calf boots first, then the longer one, but I’ll keep you posted. Here’s what we’re working with on the boots so far…
As soon as calf boots are out, we’ll adding one style at a time. Upcoming styles include our answer to a ballet flat, a dressier shoe, a sandal, open back loafers, and more styles of boots. And, we’ll be adding more colors plus half sizes in the future.
These shoes were designed using the measurements of lipedema ladies specifically. The molds are deeper to accommodate a more ample foot. The shoes are stable, slip resistant, comfortable, made for heavier weight ladies so they should be durable.
When you get your shoes, please give me feedback! The goal of this project is to 100% serve the lipedema community and I do have the power to make changes to future designs, now that I have a team and a system in place. And share with others what we’re learning together. This is a community project designed to help us help ourselves.
Yay!
Susan
