Sharing a Quick Lipedema Friendly Outfit – Formal Night

Hi friends!

I share so many lipedema friendly outfits, including this month’s silly costume posts that feature compression.  But I haven’t really addressed formal night, which is a huge deal to ladies who need to go on a cruise, or are mothers of the bride etc.  We want to look amazing, fit in, be comfortable, and draw the eye to our best features, and away from what isn’t necessarily our favorite.  I love this dress for its length, and subtle arm coverage.  For me, the neckline is daring, but it sure does draw the eye away from the arms!  (LOL!!!)

Here’s a little gown I got on Amazon for $69.99.  I was really, really surprised that it was made well and the color is just so pretty.  I got a lot of compliments on it at the gala we attended, so I thought I’d share. Here are a couple of things to consider.  I’m tall (5’9″) so if you’re not that tall you might need to have this dress altered for length.  Also, I didn’t even think about the whole bra situation until like 30 minutes before the gala and I ended up just taking my granny bra off because way too much of it was showing.  So, I had to sit up straight all night at the gala to make sure I was covered up (dang that posture!). Other than those two things, this little dress was perfect for me and my pocketbook.  I know there were ladies at the event I was at that had on ‘expensive’ (like I don’t even want to know) dresses, but I felt like I fit in just fine.

This dress comes in burgundy, navy, a gorgeous deep green, this blue, lavender, black, white, rose pink, and black.  I want to share with you what the white looks like.  If you happened to be a bride needing a simple destination wedding dress, or maybe a second dress for a large indoor wedding, I think this is perfect!  One of the comments my sister made to me is that the fit is good for someone built more pear shape, like the cut flattered my rear end.  Here’s the model’s backside (she’s not built like me, but at least you can see the cut).

The tailoring on this dress is flattering to someone with a bigger rear end, like me.

Wouldn’t this make a pretty little wedding dress…for $69.99!!!

Also, I normally wear a size 24W, but I bought a 26 because I didn’t have time for returns and didn’t want a surprise Chinese sizing experience.  The 24 would have fit fine.

Also because shoes are still a challenge for me, I wore those little Amazon Essentials flats in gold with this dress.  They have zero arch support, so are really only good for a short time for me, but at least they looked like dress shoes made for a girl, and not men’s trainers.  I will note that for those of you, like me, who are just happy to have ‘any’ dress shoe that’s not a soul-killing high heel, these come in a lot of colors, and go ALL THE WAY UP TO A SIZE 15W!  So that’s going to help someone right there.  Bring your arch supports!

If i sneak up on more bargain formalwear like this, I’ll be sure to share it.  Take that pre-my-kid-is-getting-married anxiety down a notch for some sweet mama.  Until next time, I’m packing this little dress up and saving it for my next cruise formal night!
