Hi friends!
I love a bargain. The dress I’m using as the base of this outfit is another find that I got off of the clearance rack at Kohls. It is almost aols out, but don’t worry! (This is the link to the real dress.) You can recreate this look with any dark base, like a skirt, dress, or even compression leggings and a long, dark tunic. Try to go as monochrome as possible, down to the shoes. The idea is we’re drawing the eye up to the cool jacket. I’ve given a link to an Amazon find that is just pretty similar to what I’m wearing, at the bottom of this article.
This outfit is all about the jacket. It needs to be tailored. The jacket can be anything interesting in any pop of color. What “I” added was the “Not on Clearance and I still may take it back, Jacket.” Lol! (This is the link to the closest thing I can find at Kohls – I think this is it. BTW I’m not sponsored by Kohls.) I also added some super fun earrings, overdid my eye makeup and went for a slicked back Ballerina bun (I hear they’re in style this Fall, which is great for days when you don’t want to wash your hair!)
Topping everything off with belt that is not the same color as the monochrome base and that has some shiny accessory for the buckle (even if the belt is inexpensive, like mine), upgrades the look. You can recreate this look so many ways, with so many different jackets. The important thing on the jacket is that it’s a different color than the base, and it’s a tailored and collared style, definitely not too loosy goosy, and has seams. If you recreate this, send me a pic and I’ll share it! Remember to have fun!
OK, so here are some Amazon pieces and parts that can recreate this look, probably less expensively than by using an $80 jacket I still might take back. I’m just SO real, ya’ll.
Enjoy! I love this look and can’t wait to see what you do with it!
Rock on!
Susan
